Kelston Orchards grows and packs fresh apples, including the a1 variety, on their 15 orchards and also provides post-harvest services to some of the largest growers in the region.
They’re the gold standard when it comes to facilities, with one of New Zealand’s most high-tech packing systems, handline up to 10,000 cartons of apples every day.

In fact, we can all thank Kevin and Karen for the a1 apple. After spending time developing the new variety, Kevin and Karen worked with Te Mata Exports to nurture it through the early stages of bringing it to market. Recognising that their strength lies in growing, they entered into an agreement for Te Mata Exports to acquire the apple and take it to the world.
